ICRGU classes are taught in English. To be accepted onto an ICRGU programme, you must be able to demonstrate the required level of English language skill.
ICRGU English Language Requirements
Programmes requiring IELTS 5.5 (no band below 5.5) or equivalent:
- International Year 1 – Undergraduate programmes
Programmes requiring IELTS 6.0 (no band below 5.5) or equivalent:
- All Postgraduate programmes
If your current English language skills do not meet our requirements, you might consider enrolling onto a Pre-Sessional English course.
Pre-Sessional English is not available for any of our foundation pathways at ICRGU- this includes; Health Sciences, Pharmacy, Nursing or Life Sciences pathway.

By completing a Pre-Sessional English course, you will:

- Build on your writing skills for essays, reports and assignments.
ICRGU offers two durations: 10 weeks or 13 weeks. These involve 20-25 hours a week of English language classes.
The Pre-Sessional English courses run directly before each September and January intake. Successful completion of the English language course will guarantee you a place on your chosen academic course (provided you also meet the academic requirements).
No – your student route visa covers the full duration of your English and academic studies, all the way through to graduation from Robert Gordon University.
